WWOP On Tour, 40th"Höst Öst"

11.11.2007

I entered the crazy Orienteering Racing Tour, organized by World Wide Orienteering Promotion, at Erzurum with 8 Norwegian friends.  14 countries are part of the racing tour and I participated in Turkey, Iran, Azerbaycan, Armenia, and Georgia. WWOP had mapped out the race cources previously and our group of 130 people introduced orienteering as a sport to atheletes and the general public. In the years that follow there will be atheletes from the burgeoning orienteering clubs in these countries.  I want to thank Peo Bengston and Frode Konst from WWOP who allowed me to participate in this racing tour which was very useful for me. The tour lasts a total of 23 days and ends November 13th in Sweden.: Route map

Scott Cycle

18.10.2007

I participated in the Scott stand set up in Tepeüstü, Meydan in the “Step on the Pedal” race organized by the Marintek Doga Sporlari A.S. and Intersport Türkiye.  The road bike stationary trainer with bike simulation based on the real video from the last 695mt climb of the Tour de France race makes one experience the actual difficulty of the race. My score of 1.28 was the highest score.

IL Tyrving

16.10.2007

I flew to Oslo, Norway to pick up a start display, to use in the Istanbul 5 days race, from the Emit company after the World Cup. I want to thank Frode Konst who allowed me to stay at her house during the two days I stayed in Oslo. I had the opportunity to train on the Kalvoya island adjacent to the club headquarters with the IL Tyrving club.

World Cup Final

07.10.2007

Postfinance sprint race, organized every year in Switzerland was done as a World Cup Final this year.  On the day of the final,  the 6th International Swiss Championship took place. It was the first race after my injury. I wrapped my foot really well for the mid-distance race the altitude of the course was high and the forest terrain was rough, the race ended at the border of Germany. I finished the 7.3km long/ 280mt climb/ 16 control race with no problems and my time was 1:06’18. After taking an ice cold shower with mountain water we went to the center of Stein am Rhein to watch the final. The 300mt long finish schute was completely surrounded by people and the race itself was very exciting. The race was very exciting and this year’s winner in the men’s race was unexpectedly Thierry Guergiou and the women’s champion was Simone Niggli Luder as expected.

Black Day, 59. Virkia Jukolo..

22.08.2007
